A majority of Brett's adolescent life was spent in Iowa and Minnesota area.  The family moved to Helena, Montana in 1996, then Glendive, Montana in 2003.  Brett and Justin were always together when they were younger.  One rarely ever when anywhere without the other.  They were VERY active!  The two always tried everything they could, always pushing the limits.  Sometimes you would think they had no fear of getting hurt.  Boys will be boys!  Both boys had a great sense of humor and always wanted to be the comedian or the life of the party.  All you people that new Brett would have to agree.  People would enjoy just watching them play because everyone laughed so much with the things the boys would say or do.  There was never a dull moment with these young boys clowning around.

Helena is where skating became a huge interest.  The first skateboard was just a simple Walmart board but that quickly grew to "Zumiez" and then online boards.  Lets not forget the skating shoes, grip tape, chucks, etc.  Wow!  There is a lot of money tied up in each deck and times that by two!  Can't forget the skating merchandise like tshirts, MORE SHOES, stickers etc. 

Helena Skatepark was just breaking ground at the local YMCA when the skating interest became a fascination.
